THE BENEFITS OF GOOD GARDEN DESIGN
A beautiful and functional garden brings with it a better quality of life, providing a space to lift the spirits, enjoy nature and the changing seasons. When planned well it will provide you with an outside space that suits your needs and lifestyle. Just as with your home, construction in the garden is an investment, so it is worth spending the time to develop the right design. The balance between practicality and aesthetics are essential elements behind a successful garden design. Terraces, seating, water features, sight-lines, structures and planting areas should be positioned with consideration to the spatial layout. A well-designed garden will look good and function well now and in the future.
Hannah is inspired to create outdoor spaces which enhance her client's lifestyle and surroundings. She creates functional and dynamic gardens which relate to the architecture and surrounding landscape, balancing the structural elements of the garden with the verdant and sensual qualities of plants. Working closely with her clients she encourages their ideas and aspirations to help her to design a garden which is unique and personal to them.
Trained by the very well regarded designers; Robin Templar-Williams and Moira Farnham at Garden Design School at the Bristol University Botanic Garden. Their exceptionally high standard of training has equipped her with the expertise to bring her own experience and values to garden design.
She works collaboratively with landscapers, contractors and horticulturists to produce and maintain gardens which best suit the client's lifestyle and taste and, withstand the test of time. She aims to refine and innovate continually, keeping up to date with current ideas, rules, recommendations and importantly new inspiration.
Hannah follows the high standard of working practices set by the Society of Garden Designers as a Pre-registered Member. She is also an Accredited Member of Wildflower Turf.
Most of my work is in the South West covering Bristol, Bath and South Wales. I love working with my clients to achieve the garden they aspire to. It is exciting as the build comes together and the design begins to take shape. The planting brings a real sense of joy as it provides living structure and as new wildlife inevitably arrives the garden becomes animated with life which is fantastic to see!
ARTISTIC BRISTOL GARDEN
This city courtyard garden in Montpelier was designed for a fun, sociable family who had big ideas for a small garden.
A bike store, pergola providing play for the kids and space for a chair swing.
There are outdoor cooking facilities - a Green Egg and a pizza oven which is also a burner. The pergola holds and frames a door painted by the Bristol artist Alex Lucas of Lucas Antics.
